Wednesday Club and Physiotherapy

Wednesday clubHave you thought about taking part in the Wednesday Club meetings at Hadleigh in Letchworth at their regular weekly social get-togethers?  Relaxation and a gentle exercise class follow coffee at 10.30am, with a hot lunch served at 12.30pm.  Transport need not be a worry as this can often be arranged.  A number of members and carers greatly enjoy this weekly event but new members will always be very welcome.  The committee are continuing to fund visits from our physiotherapist, Katherine McGoldrick, who has already visited Hadleigh on a number of occasions. If you feel that physiotherapy will be good for you, or you would just like to experience it, please feel free to attend the group meetings on those days.  If you would like to have more information or to join the group, please call Helen Ilsley on 01462 790210.

Denise Ryan recently joined and this is how she described her first visit.

“I arrived at 10.30 and received a warm welcome from everyone.  We started off with coffee and a chat, before doing a few of exercises to music.  We then sat down to a very nice lunch, prepared for us by one of the members.  We then chatted again before going home at 1.30pm.  All this for £2.00!  I will certainly return and can thoroughly recommend it.  A physiotherapist recently told me that if I had been given exercises when I was first diagnosed I might not have needed to use a wheelchair now.”

Grants and Publications

There are many publications produced by Head Office.  You can phone Helen Ilsley on 01462 790210 about these and for information about the financial assistance that the Branch provides for many things.  These can include special equipment, home adaptations, holiday grants, attendance at special events or help with temporary financial difficulties.  You may also ask about having a home physiotherapy and relaxation visit
